The Capitol Times reports some good news in Madison and its outlying areas – new government contracts will save Dane County taxpayers over $2 million next year. The savings are the result of employee contributions to retirement funds, which will be phased in starting in 2013. Those contributions are a direct result of Act 10, which mandated that public employees make contributions to their health care and retirement benefits that are more in line with private sector standards. For more on the savings, check out Bill Novak’s article over at The Cap Times.
