[Madison, Wisc…] For some Wisconsinites, elected office isn’t the only thing at stake when they head to the polls on Election Day. In 27 school districts across the state, voters will be tasked with deciding whether or not to spend more than a quarter of a billion dollars on a variety of projects.Of the 35 referendums on ballots spread across Wisconsin November 6th, projects range from a single $400,000 request from the Gilmanton School District to two separate referendums in the Middleton-Cross Plains School District, where officials are asking for a total of $60.6 million for construction and remodeling of the two middle schools in their district.
A number of other districts are seeking funding to maintain class sizes, improve technology and remodel parts of their schools. For example, the Pulaski Community district is seeking more than $33 million, in part for a new athletic complex and swimming pool.
For more information on all 35 referendums up for a vote next Tuesday, visit the state DPI website here: http://www2.dpi.state.wi.us/sfsref/ref_Home.aspx.
