With Gov. Scott Walker’s Act 10 in legal limbo, local public employees are finding themselves in limbo as well.
Act 10, which eliminated the bargaining rights of most Wisconsin public employees, was declared unconstitutional by a Dane County Circuit Court judge in September. Challenges to that decision followed and the issue still isn’t resolved.
In the meantime, contracts for seven of the eight unions representing Sheboygan County employees expired Dec. 31, leaving local leaders to try to figure out what to do next.
