Welcome back to the final edition of ChartSmart for the Joint Finance Committee (JFC)! Today will be the budget committee’s last day of voting on the 2019-21 biennial budget. The issue of the day is taxes. Republicans are expected to pass a motion that will cut taxes by at least $400 million. As the charts below show, Gov. Tony Evers proposed state tax increases totaling $1.3 billion. That doesn’t include other sources of taxation, like local governments that levy property taxes. This edition will have some charts also published on Tuesday’s edition, since the committee was originally scheduled to take up its vote on taxes on that day. As always, make sure to follow @MacIverWisc and @NewsMacIver for live updates on the vote.
