Remember when President Obama promised the so-called Affordable Care Act would reduce premiums by $2,500?
He wasn’t joking, but now the joke’s on us.
Nearly a decade later the facts show Obamacare is an unmitigated disaster.
Premiums increased 20 percent in 2017 and 2018. Plans are now so expensive that middle class people who don’t qualify for subsidies are leaving in droves, with unsubsidized enrollment down 40 percent since 2016.
Thankfully, the Trump administration has introduced a slew of free market reforms that give Americans more options with less red tape.
Obamacare zealots claim these efforts are sabotage, but the numbers don’t lie. States that embraced Trump’s innovations will see premiums drop 7 percent. Those that didn’t will see premiums rise 3 percent.
Rather than sabotage, it sounds more like Trump is trying to fulfill Obama’s promise by saving Americans from his signature failure.
