MADISON, Wis. — Somewhere between her Marxist social theory and her professor’s godless “leap of faith,” Vicki McKenna had an epiphany: Socialists are full of it.
It’s hard to believe, but Wisconsin’s Queen of conservative talk radio had to pass through the shadow of liberalism — and a few dozen jobs — before finding the right road.
Shaking off her sociologist fugue, McKenna abandoned her sociologist fate and turned to a life of media (which is like a life of crime, just not nearly as profitable.). It made sense. The Nightline with Ted Koppel junkie had a natural affinity for talk radio.
“I just tried to kick open some windows and some doors and see if I couldn’t get my foot into the business that way,” McKenna recently told MacIver News Service. “It took some time but eventually I was able to find someone willing to take a risk on a beret-wearing, espresso-drinking, Karl Marx-supporting Marxist.
Today, the reformed socialist-turned Queen of Conservative Talk is giving liberals fits and dominating the radio airwaves in Milwaukee and Madison on iHeartRadio’s NewsTalk 1130 in Milwaukee and NewsTalk 1310 WIBA.
Vicki McKenna brings the bueno, talking conservatism in the age of Trump and AOC, the union thug with the long gun, and why she is definitely not cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs on this edition of MacIver Newsmakers.
