Retirees may lose county insurance
Would save county $286,000 in 2014
Faced with a $2.17 million budget gap for 2014, Sheboygan County officials are considering eliminating retirees from its health insurance plan and placing them under the Affordable Insurance Exchange, a program created as part of the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
County Administrator Adam Payne and Finance Director Terry Hansen estimate the county could save just over $286,000 in the county’s 2014 budget with the assumption that its retirees will be insured under the Affordable Insurance Exchange beginning next year.
