JFC Continues Tuition Freeze, Rejects 5% Tuition Cut at UW System
By Ola Lisowski – The Joint Committee on Finance voted along party lines to continue the University of Wisconsin System tuition freeze in the 2017-19 state budget, opting to reject Gov. Scott Walker’s proposed 5 percent tuition cut for the 2018-19 academic year. JFC agreed to send the system $36 million more compared to the last budget, a $42.5 million cut from Walker’s proposal.
